This objective covers a broad spectrum of issues with the more predominant elements mentioned. The City's Sewer Use Ordinance regulates the discharge of wastewater into the sanitary sewage collection system and, ultimately, the wastewater treatment plant. The pretreatment program currently monitors wastewater from 23 facilities. Also regulated are discharges such as septic tank pumpings, restaurants and various permitted waste streams. Other services provided by this division of Public Works are sanitary sewer rehabilitation project coordination, hazardous waste and materials management, urban water quality maintenance, sludge management, erosion control, wetlands preservation and sustainable development practices.
