The Traffic Engineer for the city of Kingsport Plans, directs, implements and evaluates a variety of traffic study data collection programs; reviews and analyzes data, prepares reports of findings with recommendations, Assigns work activities and/or projects to subordinate staff; monitors daily work processes, reviews and evaluates work products methods and procedures; provides staff training, both formal and informal; participates in the development of the overall budget; monitors budgetary expenditures of projects including staffing, equipment materials and supplies.

Reviews proposed annexation areas for traffic control and street lighting requirements; upon final annexation, coordinates implementation of identified upgrades to current services; performs periodic site inspections of work in progress, initiates changes to ensure adherence with standards.

Plans, manages and oversees City of Kingsport street lighting designs plan approval and field review, works closely with utility company for plans; reviews current lighting of newly annexed  areas for required improvements for adherence with city standards.
